Stotras are devotional hymns or prayers in Hinduism, composed in praise of various gods, goddesses, or divine beings. Unlike Chalisas, which typically consist of forty verses dedicated to a specific deity, stotras can vary in length and content, ranging from a few verses to several hundred. There is Aditya Hridaya Stotra and Ram Raksha Stotra.

The word "stotra" is derived from the Sanskrit root "stu," meaning "to praise" or "to glorify." As such, stotras serve as expressions of devotion, reverence, and adoration towards the divine. They are often recited, chanted, or sung by devotees as a means of spiritual worship, seeking blessings, protection, and guidance from the deity being honored.
