Extinct species are animals, plants, or other living things that no longer exist anywhere on Earth. This happens when all members of a species die out, often because of habitat destruction, hunting, or changes in the environment. Examples of extinct species include the dodo bird and the woolly mammoth. Once a species becomes extinct, it is gone forever, which is why it’s so important to protect endangered species before it’s too late. Taking care of nature and preventing harm to wildlife can help save other species from extinction.
