Convention did not create the 2014 Ford Focus Transmission. Ford developed the PowerShift dual-clutch gearbox in an attempt to combine manual efficiency with automatic convenience. This invention has the potential to completely transform fuel economy and performance harmony. On paper, it was alchemy: a six-speed, twin-clutched gearbox that changed ratios instantly without the slushy feel of conventional automatics.
