Fenbendazole is a benzimidazole class anthelmintic drug widely used in veterinary medicine for the treatment of gastrointestinal parasites in animals. In recent years, it has gained attention for its potential off-label use in humans, particularly in managing parasitic infections. Fenbendazole 500 mg works by inhibiting the polymerization of tubulin into microtubules, thereby disrupting cellular processes essential for parasite survival, reproduction, and energy metabolism. This leads to the immobilization and eventual death of the parasite. However, caution is warranted, as robust clinical trials on its safety and efficacy in humans are still limited. Self-medication without medical supervision can be risky. More research is needed to establish standardized dosing, safety profiles, and therapeutic guidelines. Until then, fenbendazole’s role in human parasitic infection management remains experimental and should be approached carefully.
